Britt Reid is gone from the Chiefs as 5-year old Ariel remains in coma
By admin | | 0 Comments |

Britt Reid, son of KC head coach Andy Reid, is no longer with the organization, after causing an accident that left a 5-year old girl in a coma.Image: Getty ImagesOne week after Britt Reid, Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach and Andy Reid’s son, caused a car accident and admitted to police officers that he had been drinking, many people are left wondering if there will be ramifications from the NFL and/or the Chiefs organization. Conveniently enough for the Chiefs, Britt Reid’s contract was expiring, so they might feel like they are off the hook. Britt Reid is no longer an employee of the Kansas City Chiefs. This feels like the Chad Wheeler situation with the Seahawks, where the Seahawks are essentially saying “He’s no longer with the team, so it’s not our problem. Best wishes.” That said, while I would hope that the Chiefs organization would speak loud and clear on this issue, it would feel hollow and disingenuous coming from a team that has made the clear decision to prioritize winning above off the field issues. No team has a track record of domestic violence as ripe and impalpable as the Chiefs, including past employee Kareem Hunt and current employees Tyreek Hill, DeAndre Baker (who they just signed yesterday), and Frank Clark. At least the league is investigating Britt Reid’s case under their personal conduct policy, I guess. The grossness and wide-ranging league issues aside, it is imperative that we do not lose sight of the fact that a five-year-old is still fighting for her life. An update as of February 11 from the GoFundMe created for the family of Ariel Young, which has now raised over $450,000:“Hello again,Thank you to everyone who continues to pray for Ariel and support the family in a time like this. She remains in a coma and there are no changes today. I’m hopeful that the next time I update this page it’s with better news. G/O Media may get a commissionWhen sending a message to this page if you don’t mind, can you please include where you are from, I’d like to print the messages out and show Ariel one day when she is older so she can see the huge outpouring of love and support she has from all over the world. Thank you all again.Tiffany Verhulst and family ❤️”I truly hope that the league will look into this, step up and support the family of the victim and offer help. And then look to make changes to its standards for off-the-field issues. I hope it will, but I’m doubtful. .

Tom Brady was fine, but give the Bucs’ defense their due
By admin | | 0 Comments |

Tampa’s Shaq Barrett was on top of Patrick Mahomes all throughout last night’s lopsided victory.Photo: Getty ImagesThere is zero chance I would have believed you last week if you told me that the Chiefs, with one of the most explosive and creative offenses in the NFL, and with one of the most talented arms the league has ever seen, would be kept out of the end zone in the Super Bowl. But that happened. The Buccaneers defense did something nobody was able to accomplish all season — hold Kansas City without a touchdown.I had my concerns. I asked Patrick Mahomes last week how the team was preparing to face a very talented defensive front, knowing that the loss of left tackle Eric Fischer was a blow to their offensive line; the Chiefs entered Sunday with only one of their five presumptive starters on the line from the preseason. Mahomes knew it would be a battle. He said in part:It’s going to be a great challenge for them, but we’re going to do what we can to get the ball out of my hands, and get it to the playmakers and let them make plays with it.So let’s talk about that. Firstly, the Chiefs offensive line was overwhelmingly mismatched. While Mahomes was only sacked three times, he was under constant siege, oftentimes scrambling nearly twenty yards behind the line of scrimmage to avoid the pressure. While the optics showed that to be the case, the stats are worse. According to ESPN Stats & Info, Patrick Mahomes was pressured more in this game than any quarterback in Super Bowl History (29), passing the record of 25 set by Jim Kelly in SB XXVI. Brady faced his fewest pressures (4) in any Super Bowl of his career. The fact that he took only three sacks on 29 pressures is a Herculean effort. According to NextGenStats, the Chiefs used a 5-man protection on 92.3 percent of their dropbacks. How the Chiefs didn’t gameplan to use additional blockers knowing their offensive line was vastly depleted is beyond me, and it cost them. Head Coach Andy Reid is notorious for making in-game adjustments. This is one that he missed.G/O Media may get a commissionWhile Mahomes was running for his life and trying to make otherworldly plays, his teammates didn’t help. On one of his seemingly endless scrambles last night, while falling to the ground, Mahomes flicked the ball on a rope 30 yards towards the end zone. In my opinion, this would have been the greatest Super Bowl touchdown pass of all time had Darrell Williams caught it instead of letting it hit him square in the facemask. After the game, I asked Buccaneers cornerback Carlton Davis about covering the Chiefs skill players for so long in coverage as Mahomes was scrambling and trying to make plays happen. Carlton said:I mean it’s something that we knew that they did a lot, and we knew that they had a lot of success with [Mahomes] getting out of the pocket, and creating more time for his receivers to get down field, so that was a big emphasis this whole week – to just plaster to the receivers, stay on top of him even when he’s outside the pocket, and just trust the D-line and trust that they would get him down.Carlton was in coverage for 54 coverage snaps. He was targeted only four times, allowing two receptions for only 14 yards, and the Buccaneers defense held Mahomes to 270 passing yards, two interceptions, and zero touchdowns. There’s no chance the Buccaneers would have dreamed this game would go any better, on both sides of the ball. .

Don’t be stupid, Patrick Mahomes is still coming for GOAT status
By admin | | 0 Comments |

Patrick Mahomes is pressured by Shaq Barrett in Sunday Night’s Super Bowl.Image: Getty ImagesPlease, please, please before you bring out these “Patrick Mahomes will never be the GOAT Takes” I beg of you to really dissect the game you just watched. The circumstances that Mahomes faced during Super Bowl LV would have been unmanageable for any quarterback in NFL history including Tom Brady.I know for the last two weeks pundits have filled your head with this nonsense that if Mahomes loses to Brady the young star will never have a chance of surpassing the legend as the GOAT. If you believed them, I’m here to tell you that you’re smarter than that.Anyone who watched that game last night understands that the Chiefs’ offensive line never truly gave this man a chance.Mahomes was pummeled all night from the pressure of the Tampa Bay front seven. He was playing behind an offensive line that only had one original starter left and that was center Austin Reiter. Kelechi Osemele, Mitchell Schwartz, and most recently tackle Eric Fisher were all lost to season-ending injuries. Not to mention guard Dr. Laurent Duvernay-Tardif selflessly opted out to combat COVID-19 at a long-term care facility in Quebec.G/O Media may get a commissionAccording to ESPN Stats and Info, Mahomes was pressured on 52 percent of his total dropbacks. He was the most pressured quarterback in Super Bowl history. To make matters worse, Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles didn’t even have to dial up a lot of pressure against the young star. Mahomes only faced a blitz on 6 of his dropbacks. Out of the 29 times, he was pressured on Sunday, 27 of them were the result of a four-man rush or fewer.Ladies and Gentlemen that is absurd when you consider the fact that there are five offensive linemen in the game on every snap from scrimmage. The offensive line’s inability to protect Mahomes forced him to run nearly 500 yards on his dropbacks. If I hadn’t known any better I would have thought I was watching Forrest Gump on the field. The saddest part about the whole night was the fact that Mahomes was still giving his team a chance despite having to do more tricks than a Bourbon street magician looking for tips. Even after an atrocious performance from his offensive line, he was only sacked three times which is a testament to his athleticism more than his teammates. There were also two very crucial drops that swung momentum in this game. One was a Travis Kelce drop in the second quarter that stalled the drive and forced the Chiefs to punt. The Buccaneers would score on the following possession. The second one was the drop that solidified the game for the Buccaneers. At the start of the fourth quarter, it was 4th down and the Chiefs needed a touchdown to keep their hopes alive. Mahomes runs for three miles to avoid getting sacked and as he falls to the ground somehow gets off a perfect pass as he’s horizontal to Damien Williams that bounces off his helmet and falls incomplete. So, um, this Mahomes pass wound up being ridiculously accurate.Image: Getty ImagesCombine these things with the fact that the Chiefs were racking up more penalty flags like they were on a two for one sale, and you realize exactly why the Chiefs got curb stomped in Super Bowl LV.Yet, as time goes on, the memory of this game will fade and the final result will be that Brady was victorious over Mahomes. Many will forget the circumstances Mahomes played under and use this Super Bowl as a tiebreaker between the two for a GOAT conversation years down the road. For all my fellow sports fans, let’s please not forget what exactly happened in this Super Bowl.Mahomes was overwhelmed by injuries to his line and the shortcomings of his teammates in this game. It’s a Super Bowl loss that will taint his record, but as we look back 15 years later, this should not be the game we judge his greatness on if he enters the same stratosphere as Brady.Even Brady took his lumps on the biggest stage. Two of them were to Eli Manning of all people. When you are that great you usually win big and lose big.We allowed Brady to have more than 20 seasons to show us exactly why he’s the GOAT for now. Let’s just make sure we give Mahomes that same luxury. This game won’t settle any GOAT conversations; only time can do that. .

Why are Super Bowl tickets so expensive?
By admin | | 0 Comments |

Super Bowl LV is set to have the highest ticket prices in the last decade. A big reason to why the Super Bowl tickets are so expensive is because the attendance is limited. The NFL is doing something that is amazing, with 7,500 tickets being given for free to vaccinated healthcare workers. As of February 4, 2021 there were only 1,000 tickets available to purchase for Super Bowl LV. The average price of a ticket for Super Bowl LV is $7,589 which is a $1,179 boost from last year. In the past the teams playing in the Super Bowl received 35% of the tickets for the Super Bowl to give to friends and family. With the Super Bowl tickets at an all time high it brings one big question. Why are the Super Bowl tickets so expensive? Why are Super Bowl LV tickets so expensive? Super Bowl LVWe have seen the cardboard cutout of fans all season long in every professional sport. The NFL sold the cardboard cutouts of fans for Super Bowl LV for $100 plus tax, which is a lot cheaper than an actual ticket and if fans want to find themselves on the cardboard cutout, the NFL offered fans an app that takes them right to their cutout.Stubhub has the lowest ticket to attend Super Bowl LV at $3,910 per ticket. These tickets are located in the upper deck of Raymond James Stadium. The most expensive ticket price as of Sunday on Stubhub is sitting just north of $14,500. This is a huge drop especially because at one point the most expensive ticket on Stubhub was sitting at $217,120.The jump in ticket prices for Super Bowl LV is due to the availability. Super Bowl LV will only have 22,000 in attendance. With 7,500 of those available tickets gone to a great cause it only left 14,500 tickets available to buy. While prices have been rising as kickoff approaches, Super Bowl LV tickets on the secondary market haven’t been as strong as last year per TicketIQ.Lowest average “get-in” ticket price 2020: $6,6032021: $5,704 (as of Saturday) pic.twitter.com/DzqVPl18LH— Front Office Sports (@FOS) February 7, 2021When looking at the tickets that are available it is crazy to think that nose bleed seats are just as expensive as 50-yard line tickets, with NFL teams losing out on a lot of money when it comes to ticket sales during the 2020-2021 NFL season. We could potentially see prices go up if everything goes back to normal for the 2021-2022 NFL season. If NFL fans are looking to attend a Super Bowl, whether it be this year or in the future it is smart to start saving now, with Super Bowl tickets being just a little bit lesser in price than a new car or house depending on the section. It is definitely something that needs planning but it is a once in a lifetime experience that many individuals want to experience. Published 08 Feb 2021, 04:29 IST .

K.C. coach Britt Reid, Andy Reid’s son, involved in car accident; reportedly told cops he’d been drinking
By admin | | 0 Comments |

Britt Reid previously pled guilty to DUI in 2008.Screenshot: K.C. ChiefsKansas City Chiefs assistant coach, Britt Reid, son of head coach Andy Reid, was in a car accident on Thursday night that left two young children injured. One of the children, a five-year-old, has life-threatening injuries. According to reports, Reid told the police that he had been drinking, and a search warrant that was filed after the accident indicates that the KCPD officer said they could smell “a moderate odor of alcoholic beverages,” and that Britt Reid’s eyes were bloodshot. The accident occurred around 9 p.m. on Interstate 435 near the Chiefs’ practice facility at the Truman Sports Complex.“The organization has been made aware of a multi-vehicle accident involving Outside Linebackers Coach, Britt Reid,” the Chiefs said in a statement Friday. “We are in the process of gathering information, and we will have no further comment at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved.”The Reid family has been battling substance abuse issues for years, and this is not the first instance of drunk driving involving Britt Reid. In 2008, while already in jail on a road rage charge, Britt Reid, then 22, pleaded guilty to DUI and drug charges stemming from a separate incident. Britt’s older brother, Garrett, was also sentenced in 2008 for an unrelated DUI crash that injured another motorist. Garrett also faced charges after he smuggled nearly 90 prescription pills into prison the week he was sentenced. In 2012, Garrett died of a heroin overdose. In 2009, after his arrest, Britt joined his father on his Eagles staff as an intern and followed his father to Kansas City, a move that perhaps signaled a desire to keep Britt close as he battled his addiction. Britt has been on the Kansas City coaching staff since 2013, and was promoted to assistant defensive line coach in 2015. He moved to outside linebackers coach after the 2018 season. In a touch of tragic irony, had the Big Game not been taking place amid a pandemic, the Chiefs organization would already have been in Tampa days earlier. Needless to say, Andy Reid will once again be coaching – this time in the Super Bowl – while dealing with off-field distractions surrounding his family. .
